Maandag 19 september werden tijdens Gastvrij Rotterdam de winnaars van de najaarseditie van het 34e Proefschrift Wijnconcours bekend gemaakt. Twee wijnen uit Bulgarije uitblonken weer qua inzetbaarheid, karakter en prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding en bereikten de finale als top nominaties voor Wijn van het jaar.

Plovdiv behaalt de 4e plaats in de ranking 'De Beste Bestemmingen in Europa 2022' en staat op de 1e plaats in 3 andere categorieën. De stad staat op de eerste plaats in de categorieën 'De Beste Wijnbestemmingen in Europa', 'De Beste Culturele Bestemmingen in Europa' en 'De Beste Romantische Bestemmingen in Europa'.
